A teacher is a social servant.” And Gandhiji had left this quotation, “A teacher is a good friend who prevents his friends from shedding tears.” Again, someone has said that a teacher is a nation builder. My teachers taught me that a teacher is a social animator.
A teacher means many things. Look at the blooming flowers, always colorful and spreading the fragrance of sweetness – a teacher does the same. Or look at the bees, always working cooperatively with zeal and enthusiasm, or the brooks flowing towards their goal unhindered by the obstacles on the way. Don’t teachers do the same?
If you think that a teacher is like the sun, it is true. The sun gives warmth and light, so does the teacher. Even if you think that a teacher is like the moon, it is true for a teacher can be cool and calm even in the hours of darkness and trouble.
You do naughty things at times, don’t you? Your parents scold you and they even beat you, yet they still love you so dearly. A teacher does the same. The only difference is that your parents bring you up and the teacher educates you. That is equally important and equally challenging.

CLIL

Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) involves teaching a curricular subject through the medium of a language other than that normally used. The subject can be entirely unrelated to language learning, such as history lessons being taught in English in a school in Spain. CLIL is taking place and has been found to be effective in all sectors of education from primary through to adult and higher education. Its success has been growing over the past 10 years and continues to do so.
Teachers working with CLIL are specialists in their own discipline rather than traditional language teachers. They are usually fluent speakers of the target language, bilingual or native speakers. In many institutions language teachers work in partnership with other departments to offer CLIL in various subjects. The key issue is that the learner is gaining new knowledge about the 'non-language' subject while encountering, using and learning the foreign language. The methodologies and approaches used are often linked to the subject area with the content leading the activities.

Benefits of CLIL

  • builds intercultural knowledge and understanding
  • develops intercultural communication skills
  • improves language competence and oral communication skills
  • develops multilingual interests and attitudes
  • provides opportunities to study content through different perspectives
  • allows learners more contact with the target language
  • does not require extra teaching hours
  • complements other subjects rather than competes with them
  • diversifies methods and forms of classroom practice
  • increases learners' motivation and confidence in both thelanguage and the subject being taught

Introduction to Prose and Poetry

1.      From all the stories we studied in class, what are the TWO most difficult conflicts to solve. And if you were in these stories, how would you solve the conflicts?
Every story that we studied in class has different conflict and has different way to solve. From the entire story have two important conflicts from two stories that are very difficult to solve. There are the conflicts in “The well” and “The member of the wedding”.
For the first story, The well, the main conflict is man vs man, talks about racial discrimination. In this story, there were two families that had different color skin included black and white. They had an argument about the well but the important conflict was not the well, it was discrimination between two families. The well belonged to the black, Logan family. Every family in the village came to get water from the well of Logan and also the white, the Simme family. But whenever the white came to get the water, they would argue with the Lagan. I think the conflict was happen from the conflict in the past. Because in the past, it was normally that the white took the black to their slave. And the white always used power to bully the black and when the black did something, it was judged to wrong and they was punished. So, the black dislike the slavery so much, they still kept the conflict from the past to the present. Therefore, it could cause to another conflict especially conflict about the well.
If I were in this story, I would explain both two families about the discrimination and the well also. I would request both Simme and Logan to open their mind. The black might forget the conflict in the past and the white might not insult the black. They should accept each other. They would be believed that the black and the white can live together. And the conflict about the well, I would tell them to share each other. The well was like the sympathy, if they shared the well, it was the same as they shared the sympathy.
And the second story, the member of the wedding, the main conflict was man vs himself. In this story, Frankie was a girl who was growing up and would be like other. At the first time, she like her brother so she did everything like her brother for example, her hair style was short like her brother. Then, when she saw her friend who was beautiful, she also likes to be her friend. She didn’t stand on herself. She tried to do everything like the person that she likes. She didn’t understand about her age and her maturity so she always changed herself and did something that unsuitable for her.

If I were one of the characters in the story, I would explain everything that was useful for Frankie. She might have self confident and stood on herself. She shoule make up her mind about what would she want to be. I would make her believe that whatever she did was the best thing for her. Didn’t try to change to be other, would be proud in herself.
These two conflicts above are very difficult to solve but it is disappear by the person who has consciousness to solve. If someone carefully consider about the conflict, they will easily find the way to solve this conflict. The ways that I advise them before are also the good way to solve the conflict. Therefore, the best way that make someone can solve every conflict is believe in yourselves and have consciousness to judge everything.

2.      Do you think the characters in “The Yellow Woman” and “The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” are too gullible? Do you think they believe in myths and supernatural being too much? Discuss.
Yes, I do. I think the characters in “The Yellow Woman” and “The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” are too gullible. From the story about “The Yellow Woman”, the Yellow Woman was too gullible because she believes her grandfather about the story of the yellow woman. She believes that Silva was the immortal so she followed him to his house. She lived together with the man that she didn’t know anything about him. She wondered that he was the man in the story that she heard before so she tried to ask him everything. Sometimes, she thought she was like the yellow woman in the story of grandfather. From “The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings”, almost all of people were gullible. They believe that the old man was the angel because of his wings. They thought that if he was the mortal, he must not have wings but he has wings so he was an immortal. Someone paid money to watch the old man because they thought it was the chance to meet the angle. And someone helped him to fly away from this village because they still believe he was an angel.
I think the characters in both two stories were very gullible. The character in “The Yellow Woman” believes in myths. She believes her grandfather and also believes the man. She thought the situation in this story would happen with her. And the characters in “The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” believe in supernatural. They thought their village has the angel, the angel came to help them.
The characters in both two stories should consider. There were many effects that happen from their believing. Therefore, when we decide to believe something, we must consider carefully because it can be good or bad for us. Learning from the story of
“The Yellow Woman” and “The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings”

3.      In your opinion, believing in myths is good or bad for your life? Explain with specific examples from the stories we studied in class.
Believing in myths is good and also bad for my life. In my life, there are many myths that I believe, sometimes, true and sometimes, not. Every myth that I believe can cause my life, it can make me happy and can make me feel terrible too.
I have been believed in guardian spirit since I was young. If the house has the shrine, it believes that the spirit will live in there and protects everybody in the house from the dangers. My mother told me that when someone in my family died, they will not go anywhere, they will live in the shrine that their children make for them. The children must give food for them. Believing in this myth is good and bad for me. It’s good that when I live in my house, I am very happy when I know that anything can injure me because in my house has the protector. If we want to move the shrine, we must tell to the spirit. If the shrine is place in the wrong place, something will happen. It’s only one thing that I think badly for me because I’m fear if it will happen so it’s the bad thing about myth of shrine.
This myth is quite the same with the Barter in the book. It talks about moving something to the wrong place. In the Barter, the old man banned the architect that didn’t move Sala Hoikao to another place because he believes myth that his ancestor told him. But the architect didn’t believe him, he took Sala Hoikao to his house. One day, the strange event was happen, the poles of Sala Hoikao shook and finally fell down. The old man was very sad when he saw because he loves it so much. Then, the old man said to the architect that he placed the poles in the wrong position, they were not the same so they finally fell down. Each pole had the own function, if we changed the position, they would not balance. From this story, everyone learned about moving something to the wrong place and the suitable position of the pole.
Sometimes, myth is very important because something can happen when someone do the wrong thing because they never learn and never know about myth. I think we should learn about myth but you will believe or not it depends on you.

Contemporary Literature

1             1. What do you think is the main theme of “Cupid and Psyche”? Have you ever done anything as challenging as the tasks that Psyche had to do? Explain.
The main theme of “Cupid and Psyche” is love. Love caused Cupid and Psyche do everything that can make them to live together. For Cupid, he well knew that his mother did not like Psyche but he still love Psyche. He tried to do everything for his love although it was against his mother. For example, he requested the oracle of Apollo help him to live with Psyche. So, the oracle helped him by tell to Psyche’s parents that her husband was not the mortal and he was the monster. Finally, by help from the oracle, Cupid could live with his lover. And another thing that he had done is tried to escape from his mother. Although he was imprison, he tried to flew away to meet Psyche. Cupid could do everything because of his love. For Psyche, she had do everything that harder than Cupid. For example, she tried to find Cupid everywhere even if she knew it was very hard for mortal girl like her. And she had bravery to go to meet Venus although she knew that Venus hate her so much. So, when she came and live with Venus, she ordered Psyche to do the tasks that were hard for her. First, Venus ordered Psyche to separate different seeds, finally Psyche could do it. Second, Psyche had to go to the river to find sheep and got the golden fleeces to her. Again Psyche could do it. The last task, Venus ordered Psyche to go to the infernal shades to get the box of beauty for her and finally, Psyche could complete it. Those three tasks that Psyche had to do were very hard for her but she tried to do it. Psyche never quit because she would like to meet Cupid. Both Cupid and Psyche could do the tasks that were hard for them because of their love.
I have done the tasks like Psyche but it was easier than Psyche. When I studied in high school, I like English so much therefore I planned to study English in university. The big problem for me was my mother dislike English, she wanted me to study Mathematics. She never believed that I can study English well. It made me try to do everything that can change her mind and allowed me to study English. First, I participated in English competition and I tried to win the reward. I studied hard because I wanted to win. Finally, I won the reward and I gave it to my mother. Second, when I had to do the English examination, I would read books so hard because I wanted to get high point and finally, I could do it again. Because I had the attempt and never quit to do everything, my mother allowed me entrance to study English in university.

I had to do everything that could make my mother accept the thing that I love the same as Psyche, she tried to do everything that could make Venus accept her and allowed her to live with Cupid.  The important thing that I use to overcome everything is the same as Psyche, it calls love.

           2. If you have to teach Mattayomsuksa 3 students, which story we learned from our class is the most suitable for them? What will you teach from this story?
If I have to teach Mattayomsuksa 3 students, I will teach them the story about “A step from heaven” because I think it’s suitable for them. This story has a lot of considerations for students in Mattayomsuksa 3. A step from heaven talks about the girl who emigrated from Korea to America, she called Mi Gook. Her family went to America to search of better life.
This story talked about the girl who was growing up and changing herself. Young Ju was the girl from Korea moved to America. She did not know anything about America and she could not speak English. She tried to change everything in their life to be American. She did not tell anything about her family to her friends because fear that her friends would think her family was weird. Young Ju tried to learn American culture so her parents feared that she has forgotten her past and her culture.
I will teach students about changing something in their life. First, about age and maturity, they must learn the level of life and do something that is their own function that they can do. And learn what thing they should do and what thing they should avoid. And second, their culture, it’s good if they do everything like most people do like the proverb, when in Rome, do as the Roman do. It’s best for them if they can adapt themselves to live with other people in different city but sometimes, they do not consider about their culture. They must grow and do something that suitable for their age and also. Although many things are change, they must keep their culture and original.
A step from heaven is suitable for Mattayomsuksa 3 students because this story teach them about changing their life from children to adult. And how to adapt to live with other people but do not lose their old culture.

 -     Compare and contrast humans in the four stories of creation. Are humans in different stories powerful and important? What are the different purposes of creating humans?
There are the contrary and the comparison of the four stories of creation. About the contrary, there are two things that are different. First, powerful and important of the humans. In the first story, Genesis, humans were not powerful because they were created by God. God could order them to do everything. And they could not structure or destroy anything. But humans in the Genesis were important because they had to work in the garden, they took care of the garden and they were important to increase the humans in the world. The second story, the Chameleon, humans were powerful because they could destroy the animals. They made the fire to destroy every creature in the land of Chameleon that affected the Chameleon leave the land. In the contrary, humans in this story were not important because they could help themselves. They could survive because of the Chameleon. The third story, the Yauemani Yokut Creation. Humans were not powerful and not important because in this story animals created the world, did not mention to the humans. The last story, Spider woman creates the Humans. Humans in this story were not powerful but important. Because they were built by the Spider woman, they could not born by themselves. But they were very important for the world because they could multiply their tribe so the humans would increase.
Second, the different purposes of creating humans. In the Genesis, the story described about the metaphysical, the sociological, psychological and the important thing was the consciousness. The story talked about the fruit of wonder tree of the knowledge of good and evil that man and woman in this story might choose to eat. They might have the consciousness to consider about the fruit of tree so humans might have the consciousness to do everything. And the Chameleon Finds, this story mentioned about the cosmological image and the image of the universe. The story wants the readers to know about the origin of the universe, sun, moon, stars, animals and every creature in the world. And the last, the Yauelmani Yokut Creation and the Spider woman creates the Humans. These two stories described about the social order and the moral. Both two stories specifically taught the readers about how to live together in the society. Humans might know about the moral and learn about the social order because social order has been regarded as of a piece with the order of nature.
About the comparison, all the authors of the four stories of creation want to show their culture. Different stories had different origins. The Genesis had belief about God because the author composed the story that the world was created by God. Then, the Chameleon Finds, the story revealed the culture and the career in the area. The humans in this story were the agriculturist and this society was the agriculture because talked about the animals and the fish traps. And the Yauelmani Yokut Creation, talked about the food in this area in the story. The animals in this story used the telis and pele seeds and the dough to make the land so the readers can assume that the society in this story eat the telis and pele seeds and the dough. The last, the Spider woman creates the Humans, the society in this story believed the Spider. People thought that spider was important for their lives because the author composed the story that the spider could create the humans.
These four stories have many differences. Each story has the significantly character and important depend on the culture and the society of this area. The readers have to learn all of the stories because these stories reveal the origin of the humans in the world.

Poetry

- Which character do you like the most from T.S. Eliot’s poems on cats? Discuss only one character and explain whether he/she is similar or different from you.

Cats is the most famous poem by T.S. Eliot.  This poem is translated into several languages. There are four different kinds of cats; Rumtum tugger, Jellicle cat, Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer and Macavity. Each of them has different characteristics. First, Rumtum tugger is a curious and terrible cat. She does not want anything from the host. If she wants something, she will find by herself. Second, Jellicle cat is black and white. She is a cheerful cat, so the host loves her so much. Third, Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer are twin cats. They are the thief. They like to steal something from the house. The last, Macavity is the misery cat. He is called the hidden paw. He breaks the law of gravity, so no one likes Macavity.      From the four characters of cats, I like Rumtum tugger because she is the best character that shows everything about me. I think she is similar from me the most. She has two sides of her character. I also have both good side and bad side like Rumtum tugger.
Good side of Rumtum tugger is her charm. She is a charming cat, so the host loves her so much. She likes to whimper the host when she wants something. It is her attraction that can attract many people especially the host. For example, when the host get angry with her, She will whimper in order to make the host feel better and do not punish her. Rumtum tugger has her own decision. She decides to do everything by herself. Also, she has the prominent characteristic. Therefore, I think I have many characteristics like Rumtum tugger. I like her charm although I do not have like her. Since I really want to be a charming girl, Rumtum tugger is the most character that I want to be. I would like many people love me like Rumtum tugger. Moreover, I think I also have my own decision. I will do something well if I want to do. Also, I am quite crazy. I like to do something which nobody likes to do. For example, when I have to do the lesson plan, I and my friend always think about the new activities. I think it is challenge and it also gives me some experiences. I think I like to make a different. Thus, It is my characteristic that nobody is like me.
Not only good side but also bad side Rumtum tugger has. Rumtum tugger is terrible bored. She does not stay in the same place for a long time. She is self-centred because she does not care anything and anyone. For example, if the host gives her the fish, she always wants a feast and if put her in a house, she would much prefer a flat. She will appreciate the value of something if it is important for her. Also, Rumtum tugger is only like what she finds for herself. In my opinion, these characteristics are too bad, but I cannot refuse that I also do like these. Sometimes, I am so bored about something. I really do not want to do anything if I do not like and I will do something if I consider I can do it well. For example, I choose to teach students in song station instead of storytelling station because I do not like to tell the story. I like singing songs more than telling stories. In addition, I want someone to take care of me every time that I want although I know it is impossible.
To sum up, Cats is the most famous poem that shows many different characters. Each of them is good and bad. I think almost of my characteristics are like Rumtum tugger. I also have both good and bad side like Rumtum tugger. This character can convey everything about me. Although Rumtum tugger is not really good character, I still like her more than other characters. Therefore, if compare me with four characters in T.S. Eliot’s poems on cats, I think Rumtum tugger is the most suitable for me.

Should animals be kept in zoos?

Nowadays, there are many kinds of animal in the world. Some animals live in forests and some are kept in zoos. Keeping animals in zoos is the best way to protect them from danger, but leaving them to natural way is another important point to consider. Anna said that "It is bad because they have been taken away from their natural surroundings, but good because they get well fed and looked after." (Anna: 2010) Although some people agree that animals should be kept in zoos, I still believe that animals will have happiness when they live in their original place.
First, the facts that keep dangerous animals in the zoos are better than leave them in the forests. Despite some people believe that dangerous animals should live in the zoos because they will not be able to injure people, but there are many situations that show the opposite side. Sometimes, dangerous animals can injure the people when they live in the zoos because dangerous animals still have their own instinct.  For example, the argument “it is very bad to keep animals in zoos because they need to go to where they really live the jungle. Cause then they will get angry and go on rampages killing people like the tiger in San Francisco that killed the trainer and injured 2 men.” (www.answer.com). I believe that animals should live in the forests. If animals live in the forests, they will not have chance to see people. Therefore, they cannot injure people.
Second, the argument about zoo animals is healthier than wild animals. The zoos have good breeding and treating programs for animals. When zoo animals are hungry, they will have food to eat. Also, when they get sick, they will have good medicines to treat. However, in fact, wild animals have their instincts to find food and treat their illness by the natural way to survive. Sometimes, zoos animals have to wait for their food. After they ate food, some animals still hungry. They have to wait for next meal and sometimes the zoos do not have enough food for them. The scientist said that “elephants do not do well in zoos. The average lifespan of zoo elephants is about 16-18 years, while wild elephants can live 50-70 years.” (www.veganpeace.com).
The final argument is about animals will be happy if they live in the zoos. Some people say that the zoos have wide area for animals to travel. Zoo animals can go for many miles. On the contrary, some zoo animals have stress and express through their behaviors. The signs of stress or boredom that you can see in zoo animals are pacing backwards and forwards, head bobbing, rocking, repeatedly retracing their steps, sitting motionless or biting themselves. For example, the scientist shows the scientific term for repetitive behaviors in zoo animals. This covers all the strange looking behavior we can see in zoo animals. These behaviors are caused by conditions like depression and boredom. (www.veganpeace.com).
This evidence shows that the arguments about animals should be kept in zoos is invalid. Although many people believe that zoo animals are happier than wild animals,            I strongly agree that animals will be happy if they live in their original place. As the studies of the scientists show the disadvantages of keeping animals in the zoos, I offer to leave them in forests because there are many advantages of leaving animals in the forests. Therefore, in my opinion, animals should not be kept in the zoos.

The influences of Korean culture on Thai teenagers
Nowadays, Korean culture is very famous in Thailand. Thai teenagers consider Korean culture to be their new culture. They always do and try to practice themselves to be Korean. And they regard Korean culture to the good way to follow. As a result, Korean culture has many influences that can affect Thai teenagers, in term of fashion, artist and life style.
One way Thai teenagers spend a lot of their money for Korean fashion. They like to wear clothe like Korean people, especially Korean artists and film stars. They can see Korean clothes on television. They consider that Korean cloth is new fashion for them. Besides, Thai teenagers normally have hair style like Korean star. So, it is regard to new trend in Thailand. Moreover, most of Thai teenagers like to have surgery. They think they can develop every part of their body to be perfect by plastic surgery. And they like to wear big eyes and contact lenses to make their eyes bright and beauty. Also Thai teenagers try to make their skin white because they want white skin like Korean star. They use some cosmetics from Korea so cosmetics from Korea are very popular among Thai teenagers.
Another way Korean artist is consider to the idol for Thai teenagers. Now Korean bands are very famous, they call K-Pop. They like to copy the performances from Korean bands. For example, they like to cover dance and try to have characteristic like these bands. And most of songs in Thailand can be famous if copy form Korean style. Not only dance and song but also movie, Almost of Korean series are the most interesting for Thai teenagers to follow up.
The last and importantly, Thai teenagers regard Korean life style to be the good way to follow. For example, Korean foods become famous food for Thai teenagers. They like to eat Korean food such as Kimji. Therefore, there are many Korean restaurants in Thailand. Furthermore, Thai teenagers go to Korea to visit the famous place in Korean series. They would like to visit this place because they think they will see someone in there like in the series that they watched. Thai teenagers also use technological thing from Korea. Because they like the star who advertise this brand so they buy goods from this brand. Another reason is they follow Korean people. If whatever famous in Korea and many people use, they must use too especially mobile phone and motorcycle. So, Thailand imports a lot of goods from Korea.
To sum up, these examples above can show the ways that Korean culture can influence. Thai teenagers; there are fashion, artist and life style. Thai teenagers accept Korean culture to follow because they think it will make them to be modern person.

English and Amarican Short stories and Novels

Write an essay that explores the impact of materialism on relationship. (Base on what you see in the society).
Nowadays, most people in society try to pursuit the happiness by materials. They have the belief about material can fulfill of their spiritual nourishment. Therefore, materialism has the contrary impacts on relationship of people in society in terms of the good impact and the bad impact.
First, Materialism can help people to improve the relationship in their family. It is good if everyone in the family accepts the desire of someone in family and allows them to response their desire by whatever they want. Some family understands all the demand of the member in family and tries to give everything for happiness of the entire member in family. For example, the soap opera on television normally show this point; talks about someone who want something then their parents let them to buy to fulfill of their happiness. It can show the good relationship in family. Thus, materialism can help people to improve the relationship in their family to be strong.
Second, besides the good impact of materialism, there are many problems on relationship of people in family that happen from materialism. Someone wants some material but does not have enough money to buy. Therefore, the exploiting will be happen from this problem. For example, in the news, the son wants to buy a car but his mother does not have enough money for him. Finally, he sell asset of his mother to earn enough money to buy his car. Another problem is the problem in the society. The relationship of the people in society will be worst because t people are selfish. Because of materialism, people in society are the bad person. These people can do everything for their happiness. Sometimes, many people want something that does not belong to them, so they steal from someone who is the owner. Therefore, Materialism can make many problems in the society.
To sum up, materialism is something that can happen in everyone’s mind. It is the desire of people to pursuit their happiness. People should consider this carefully because both the good thing and the bad thing can happen from materialism.
